What is MPSS?

In February 2006 the Mazda Professional Selling Skills (MPSS) process training was updated to make it simple for dealer personnel to attend. It all began in December 2003 when Mazda embarked on a new initiative for the Full Circle Service strategy called Mazda Professional Selling Skills. The intent was to improve Service Consultants sales presentations while also increasing customer satisfaction and retention. Mazda chose Auto University as their partner due to their unique approach to customer focused selling and their proven success with other large dealer groups.

In January 2004, a pilot was conducted with Phillips Mazda in Irvine California. The results produced record sales in parts and customer pay labor at a dealership that has been around for more than 25 years. The following month, they set another record while also improving their CSI scores on surveys received the previous month. Customers loved the process.

What does the dealer get when they enroll?

The training begins with a Workshop on a Tuesday evening held at your dealership to train your team on the fundamentals of MPSS. This includes how to perform a powerful sales presentation at the customer's vehicle using the Full Circle Service Walkaround. This is followed immediately by 3 days of on site coaching and consulting to maximize what was learned in the Workshop.

After 45 days, the Consultant returns to the dealership to coach and refine the process with the service team for four additional days. They come back again after another 45 days for two days, a total of 10 full days of training and coaching at your dealership. Further Sustainment strategies are provided and offered to the Dealer at that time. This entire package is being offered to dealers at a tremendous value including easy payment terms on the parts statement for up to 10 months.

Are the dealers seeing success?

Each week, success stories are published in the MPSS Newsletter sent to the dealers via e-mail. These articles testify to increases in parts sales, labor hours, individual bonuses and customer satisfaction. The attitude among those who have taken this process is positive and encouraging. Improvements in the process for Mazda continue to be addressed as our trainers meet quarterly to discuss opportunities for improvement.
