There are no real secrets to success anymore. Success hides itself only from those who haven't bothered to search for it or, upon finding it, choose not to implement it nor pay the price by sticking with the principles and philosophies that success requires.
Jim Rohn says, "The few who do are the envy of the many who watch." I would add, "And do nothing about what they see." Regardless of your job title, place of employment or financial status, the key to your success this year, this month or today, will be based on the actions you take on a daily basis.
Oh sure, it all begins with good character, a solid self image and a positive mental attitude. Next, you build on that with the best possible training, tools and coaching (from Auto University of course) and you get back to work to find that your results are only as good as the actions you take to implement the processes and strategies. And this applies to everyone from Dealers to top performing Salespeople.
Examples from the farm
Dealers, like farmers, don't get where they are without being persons of action. But dealers, unlike farmers, tend to spend time in the barn when they should be out in the field:
In this analogy, they take action to buy the new plowing machine yet never go into the field to see that the workers are using it properly - if at all.
Then there's the hired hand who has been using a shovel for years and turns over more soil than two or three others combined. And since the new plowing machine requires a change in his daily routine, he chooses instead to sabotage the project by never using it properly and telling others it's an entire waste of time.
The job foreman doesn't want to lose his most productive worker and friend, so he becomes a co-conspirator by supporting the hired hand in reports to the farmer. And when the productivity reports come across the Dealer's desk, he calls the manufacturer and complains that he wasted his money on a piece of equipment that doesn't work.
To succeed in 2006, or any year for that matter, you must take appropriate action. There are nice people with great attitudes and sincere motives all over the world. But at the end of the day only those who take action will be considered successful.
