There will forever be arguments about the value of Ronald Reagan?s economic policies. But there should be no argument about the greatness of the man and what he did for our country.
Oh, I could waste space by spouting off statistics about how both Ford and Chrysler increased their market share significantly during the 80's, or discuss a lesser covered topic of the benefits of Mr. Reagan's deregulation of the Trucking industry, but I?d prefer to take the simple approach. That is to use the words Mr. Reagan used when campaigning for a second term in office:
"Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"
For us today, we owe a great deal to the stimulation of our economy under President Reagan. We were able to reinvest in our industry as gross domestic product grew more than ever before. This allowed us to create new products and set the stage for the record sales that would follow in the 90's.
But even more than the economic growth, President Reagan left us with something far more valuable: A positive outlook on America, hope for her future, and freedom from an ever present fear of nuclear war. He often greeted us with a warm smile and encouraging words about our country and our accomplishments. He made us feel like we were great, and he returned us to the feelings of greatness we had been lacking for many years.
We would all do well to have the same attitudes and outlook, the same vision and hope, the drive and commitment as did our former great President, Ronald Reagan. May God Bless Nancy and Mr. Reagan?s family, and may God Bless America.
