Hot off another rousing campaing speech, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger sat down with Auto University’s David Cameron to discuss how he is able to energize and inspire people, even when it appears things aren’t going well.
DC: Governor Schwarzeneggar,
AS: Please, call me AHHHnold!
DC: Okay, AHHHnold. As you know, Auto University works with car dealers. And things aren’t really all that good in our business these days. I look at it kind of like your state, or even our country. But you seem to always view things with an up beat attitude. Why?
AS: That is the only way to get things done. You must focus at ahhll times on the positive things. Like I said in my speech tonight, even if you don’t agree with everything, you can look at all the positive things and see that we really do have some great success stories to tell.
DC: But what about those who are struggling at the dealerships? What do you say to them?
AS: I say the same thing to them that I said to the leaders in CAHLEEFORNEEA and to those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy: Don’t be economic girlie men. You’ve got to realize where you are. One thing I learned about America is that if you work hard and play by the rules, this country is truly open to you. You can achieve anything!
DC: So focusing on the positive things will help you succeed?
AS: I live by a simple principle: You are what you think. If you spend your whole day thinking about negative things, or laying in bed thinking about how bad your day was, then what you will become is a loser. There’s no value to that kind of thinking. I think and work as if everything I hope for will happen. And I terminate any thoughts to the contrary.
