It's Not My Job
You won't get anywhere in life using this mantra.

The sales manager at the first dealership I worked at refused to give out job descriptions. He said, "If you list what is expected, you'll never get anything more. If you need help with something that isn't on the list, they'll say, 'Sorry, that's not my job!' "

While I understand the frustration he felt, I also know that the attitude he found in typical sales people was pretty common. So if you don't want to be common, if you want to make it to the top and become a success, you need to eliminate the phrase, "It's not my job", from your vocabulary.

Successful people know that they must make an investment of time to show their value to the company for which they work. By doing more than what is on your job description, you will increase the value you bring to the company and you will eventually get paid more money.

Noted author and speaker Brian Tracy says that you shouldn't strive to find success, but you should become the type of person that attracts success. When you change your behavior, success then will seek you out. Do more than what is expected of you and you'll get that promotion, you'll make more money, and you'll be more respected than all the others.
